Drones Business Architect

We can no longer ignore it. The infinity of possible applications with drones will have a significant impact on our daily lives. Numerous industries, sectors and organizations are increasingly deployed to support their own processes. Drones are often faster, safer and cheaper than the traditional methods of, for example, performing inspections, deliveries or other repetitive or inefficient tasks.

The number of specialized courses in this domain is still very limited. With this post-graduate Drones Business Architect, we want to fill that gap between what the industry demands and education facilities offer today. The unique training consists of four modules: drone aviation and legislation, drone technology, drone business innovation management and drone cases. This unique postgraduate degree is supported by the Province of Limburg and DronePort.

Practical

The training starts on the 1st of October 2019, every Tuesday or Thursday from 6 pm to 10 pm (some modules are given on the same day, see calendar below). The registration fee for the entire course is 1,350 euros. You can also register for individual modules. The ‘Aviation’ and ‘Technology’ modules cost 300 euros, the ‘Business’ module costs 225 euros and the ‘Cases’ module costs 675 euros.

Calendar

In the ‘Aviation’ module, students explore the general regulations in the aviation sector and aircraft technology. Weather conditions are crucial for flying with drones, so meteorology is also covered extensively. We also zoom in on basic navigation in the airspace and learn to read aviation maps. We look at the law on privacy and the new European legislation on drones. And if you ever would like to become a drone pilot yourself, we will provide the correct guidelines in addition to an initiation flight with a drone.

A well-founded view of what drones are and what they are capable of now and in the near future is discussed in the ‘Technology’ module. The students are introduced to different types of drones, cameras, sensors, batteries, … The various applications and research programs are also extensively discussed. We zoom in on themes such as automatic and autonomous flying, drones and artificial intelligence, edge computing, end-to-end security, swarming, GDPR, etc. Together we visit a renowned drone trade fair in Amsterdam in December.

How to build a drone business? This question is answered within the ‘Business’ module. We help you to discover drone opportunities or better estimate the feasibility of using a drone solution. The transformation of business processes through the use of drones is also discussed extensively. And of course we thoroughly explain the translation to external and internal stakeholders.
