Helicus’ Drone Cargo Port demonstration and brainstorming for Medical, Pharma and Industry

In short

On 24 February 2025, DronePort will host a second series of B2B events dedicated to the Drone Cargo Port, developed by Helicus.

Presenting the missing link to revolutionize automated drone cargo logistics – following an open modular architecture

Following the strong interest and valuable exchanges during last year’s sessions, the second version of the Helicus Automated Drone Airport returns to DronePort. It is the missing link in ground-to-air fully automated drone cargo logistics. This “Drone Cargo Port” (DCP) is an open modular ground automation platform that connects automated drone flights with fully automated cargo handling on the ground. With its bi-directional coupling to pneumatic tube post, the automation now extends into a(ny) building. True end-to-end integrated logistics chain has arrived !

Urban and regional logistics are facing increasing pressure from congestion, rising operational costs, sustainability concerns and manpower constraints. While drones already enable autonomous flight between locations, cargo handling often remains manual, limiting scalability and efficiency. The Helicus Drone Cargo Port addresses this challenge by automating loading and unloading processes and removing the need for human intervention, making drone based cargo transport operationally viable at scale.

The technology was initially developed for medical and pharmaceutical logistics and has since been implemented in an operational hospital. Building on this foundation, the upcoming session is designed to explore concrete use cases and operational requirements for medical logistics, pharmaceutical and industrial environments. Through targeted discussions and live demonstrations, participants will experience how automated drone cargo infrastructure can be integrated into diverse operational contexts, enabling secure, efficient and scalable logistics solutions tailored to each sector.

To reflect the growing range of applications, this edition will feature a dedicated session on 24/02/2026, tailored to specific operational contexts and stakeholders.

Event program

Applications for defence and airport environments
This session focuses on secure, resilient and scalable logistics for defence related use cases and airport operations. Topics include automated cargo handling in controlled environments, integration with airport infrastructure, operational continuity and the role of drone cargo systems in future airside and landside logistics.
