Deputy Aerodrome Commander

Job description

As Deputy Aerodrome Commander, you are responsible for supervising and coordinating all aerodrome operations during your duty time. You ensure the safety at the airside and efficiency of radio transmissions, appliance of operational procedures and communication with pilots.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Supervising operational activities at the aerodrome
  • Ensuring compliance with aviation regulations and safety standards.
  • Provide information for takeoff and landing procedures for manned and unmanned aircraft.
  • Handling emergencies and developing emergency response plans.

Requirements

Meet the requirements for the position of Deputy Aerodrome Commander as determined in Circular GDF-04 of the Directorate-General for Aviation, including:

  • Have committed no aviation regulation infringements in the last five years.
  • Hold a restricted radiotelephony operator’s certificate for an aircraft station, issued in accordance with the requirements of the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority, or be willing to obtain it in the near future.

Additional strenghts

  • Currently hold or have previously held a private pilot license issued by an EU Member State.
  • Demonstrable experience in aerodrome  air traffic control suppervision.
  • Knowledge of drone laws and regulations.
  • Strong communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Knowledge of the latest developments in drone technology.
  • Able to cope with stress and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
  • Team player
