DronePort partners with SkeyDrone to create a safe and future-proof drone airspace

DronePort has set up a strategic partnership with SkeyDrone. This partnership will allow DronePort Sint-Truiden to integrate SkeyDrone’s cutting-edge Unmanned Traffic Management solution, enabling the safe and efficient coordination of all drones operating in the different testing zones. Additionally, DronePort will leverage SkeyDrone’s advanced Traffic Information Service to obtain full situational awareness of all air traffic operating within its airspace.

Combining all information of manned and unmanned traffic into a single common operational picture is one of the cornerstones of a future-proof airspace.  It is a crucial step in enabling drone pilots to safely conduct Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) flights.

According to Hendrik-Jan Van Der Gucht, Managing Director at SkeyDrone, “This collaboration will set new standards for safety, efficiency, and expertise in the drone industry and marks a significant step towards creating a U-space airspace.”

Ward Decaluwé, CEO of DronePort Sint-Truiden comments “With the partnership with SkeyDrone, we are set to become a state of the art drone expertise centrum, fostering the development of the European drone ecosystem and supporting the integration of drones into society.”
