In 2023, the MoU 'Indiana – Flanders' was signed at the Governor's office in Indianapolis, setting the stage for regional collaboration and innovation. Recently, Governor Eric Holcomb visited Flanders to meet with Flemish Prime Minister Jan Jambon and key leaders in autonomous driving and AI, hosted by Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT). Our CEO, Ward Decaluwe, presented DronePort's mission and vision, showcasing the potential of our business park for local and international companies eager to grow in these expanding markets.

Leading the way in carbon-free, automated air mobility

At DronePort, we are at the forefront of creating a carbon-free, fully automated, and autonomous air hub designed for advanced and urban air mobility. Our vision is clear: to enable CO2-neutral and quiet air movements powered by electricity, hydrogen, and other CO2-free fuels. Our airport operations will be fully automated, utilizing state-of-the-art drones and robots. This pioneering approach not only positions us as leaders in the industry but also sets a new standard for sustainability and efficiency in aviation.

ADLC secures €2M in seed funding and lands at DronePort – Brustem Airport

ADLC, a pioneering drone logistics company, has successfully raised €2.08 million in seed funding to accelerate its growth and further expand its services in the maritime and offshore industry. The investment round was led by Galactic Beacon Ventures (GBV), alongside co-lead investor LRM, Port of Antwerp-Bruges and NXT II, with the support of PwC – Next Level as financial/fundraising advisors and Van Olmen & Wynant as legal advisors. Moreover, we are delighted to welcome ADLC as a new resident on our DronePort business campus in Sint-Truiden, the innovation hub for autonomous mobility on the ground and in the air.

Limburg’s startup climate takes off again: over 9,300 new companies in 2024 and a growing drone ecosystem

Limburg’s entrepreneurial landscape is soaring again. According to Voka – KvK Limburg’s latest analysis, our province welcomed 9,309 new startups in 2024—a 9% increase compared to 8,558 in 2023. That revival is close to the record of 2021 (9,491) and contributed to more than 1,000 new jobs last year. Over the past five years, startups in Limburg have jointly created nearly 9,000 jobs, highlighting their significant impact on our local economy.

DronePort teamed up with Belfius Region Hasselt to host an incredible Tesla Experience event. Nearly 100 bank directors from independent Belfius branches across Antwerp, Limburg, and Flemish Brabant gathered at DronePort on November 14, 2024 to delve into the future of sustainable mobility. The attendees were given the unique opportunity to test drive the full range of Tesla models—including the Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X—experiencing firsthand the cutting-edge technology and performance that Tesla vehicles offer.
