Aidoptation Raises EUR 20 Million to Scale Dual-Use AI and Autonomous Systems from DronePort

Aidoptation, a Belgian-American technology company and resident at DronePort since early 2025, has successfully secured EUR 20 million in additional financing to accelerate the development and industrialization of advanced AI-driven autonomous systems. The funding round reinforces DronePort’s role as a strategic hub for high-value, dual-use innovation at the intersection of mobility, security, and defence.

A Transatlantic AI Autonomy Platform Anchored at DronePort

Aidoptation develops high-performance autonomy for dual-use applications across commercial automotive, police and first responder vehicles, and defence-relevant environments. Its core product, EdgeDrive, enables safe, secure, and sustainable high-speed autonomous driving and has reached Technology Readiness Level 6 to 7 for passenger vehicles capable of full autonomy at highway speeds above 90 km/h.

Anchored at DronePort, Aidoptation combines Belgian governance and value creation with a strong transatlantic footprint. The company operates a motorsports engineering lab in Indiana and runs the Indy Autonomous Challenge, a research ecosystem connecting 15 leading universities across the US, Europe, and Asia. This network continuously feeds cutting-edge AI and automation advances into Aidoptation’s product roadmap.

Strategic Financing to Support Growth and Security-Aligned Innovation

The EUR 20 million financing will support advanced R&D in AI-driven autonomous systems, the industrialization and scaling of validated technologies such as EdgeDrive, and the development of strategic industrial and defence partnerships in Europe, the US, and Asia. The company applies strict cost discipline and burn-rate management tied to technical and commercial milestones.

The investor consortium brings together public capital, financial institutions, and defence-industrial expertise. Participants in the round include SFPIM with EUR 10 million, John Cockerill Defense with EUR 5 million, Ethias Ventures with EUR 2.5 million, and Belfius Bank & Insurance with EUR 2.5 million. This structure aligns long-term incentives, spreads risk, and combines capital with deep industrial know-how.

Economic Value and Defence Relevance

From an economic perspective, the investment anchors high-value R&D and industrial capacity in Belgium, supports innovation-led productivity, and uses public capital to crowd in private and strategic investment while preserving governance control. From a defence and security standpoint, it strengthens NATO-aligned innovation, reduces dependency risks in critical autonomous technologies, and reinforces the Belgian and European defence-industrial base through trusted transatlantic cooperation.

Aidoptation maintains a Belgian-US-only cap table, reflecting governance, security, and strategic-alignment considerations. Looking ahead, interest from more than ten international investors signals strong momentum toward a future Series B.

A Milestone for DronePort’s Innovation Ecosystem

Aidoptation’s growth underscores DronePort’s mission to host and scale companies that combine technological excellence with economic resilience and security awareness. By anchoring advanced AI and autonomous technologies on Belgian soil while collaborating closely with trusted allies, this milestone demonstrates how public and private partners can work together to create long-term value, resilience, and peace.
